The GIS Center Department organized its annual meeting with its strategic partners from government, semi-governmental, and private entities, celebrating GIS Day at Al Etihad Museum. The event highlighted new research prospects and ways to leverage geospatial capabilities in future solutions for climate change phenomena, coinciding with its hosting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28).
The event included a presentation by Engineer Meera Al Ameri, Section Manager of Research and Building Systems at the Building Permits Department in Dubai Municipality, where she presented Dubai's Sa’fat Initiative, which focuses on classifying buildings in the Emirate of Dubai to be environmentally friendly and sustainable. Eng. Maitha GISC Director, emphasized on the positive results of collaboration between entities, reflecting on valuable achievements that contributed to decision-making processes, crisis management, urban planning, map production, infrastructure development, and contributing to building an effective community that aligns with Dubai's aspirations to be one of the most future-ready cities.
