GIS Day 2022

In celebration of international GIS Day, the GISC Department in Dubai Municipality organized the annual event in coordination with the Mohammed bin Rashid Library. The event was attended by a number of government & semi-government entities in Dubai, in addition to strategic partners, and free zone authorities, to learn about the latest systems, services and projects in the field of metaverses and digital twin and to highlight the role of Geospatial data in decision-making processes, crisis management, urban planning and mapping. The GIS Day this year focused on important topics given by the Center’s employees such as the Geospatial Professional Qualification Scheme and UAE National Strategy for AI and how the GIS Center utilizes this technology. Moreover, the event included a presentation of the use of Metaverse in the Geospatial field, as well as a workshop titled Dimensionality Reduction of our World using a Geospatial Infrastructure presented by Dr. Adel Bolbol from Esri. In addition to that, the Geospatial Business and Innovation Incubator (GeoHub), which is the specialized arm in research, development and geospatial innovation was also presented. Finally, the presentations concluded with the geospatial standards and specifications project for data collection operations. At the end of the ceremony, Eng, Maitha Al Nuaimi, Acting Director of the GISC Department, honored the center's strategic partners and coordinators, in appreciation of their efforts that contributed to the success of the center’s strategic plans, initiatives and projects.​​
