In line with the UAE strategy for artificial intelligence, which represents a new stage of the country’s development and progress towards global leadership, the GIS Center Department in Dubai Municipality, conducted a technical study during the third quarter of 2022, to identify unpaved roads in Al Awir area. The study was conducted by using artificial intelligence technology, and the ArcGIS Pro software to extract the required data. A sample of the required geospatial feature was drawn using the latest aerial survey available in the center followed by creating an AI model. After a series of comprehensive analysis, the initial results showed that the artificial intelligence model identified a large number of unpaved roads in the area. This study supports RTA, as it will contribute to improve the urban planning process for roads in residential areas in the Emirate.
