Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Launches Makani Application in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, who is responsible for the implementation of the initiative to transform Dubai into a smart city launched the "Makani" smart geographic addressing system, which was launched by the GIS Center and is considered to be the first of its kind in the world.His Highness mentioned that the application is not just another smart application added to the list of smart government applications, instead it is a smart addressing system, and its application will have various economic and environmental impacts on the emirate, by reducing the travel time of various vehicles inside the emirate, and reaching destinations more accurately, thus reducing the size of carbon emissions. He also stressed out the fact that this application takes into account the diversity of cultures and nationalities in the emirate, by dealing with numbers only instead of letters and names.
