For the first time: Using Virtual Reality Technology

​The signing of the smart agreement through the “Virtual Reality" between Dubai Municipality and Civil Defense

Dubai Municipality Director General, Dawood Al Hajri and Director General of the Civil Defense Rashid Thani Al Matroushi signed a smart remote agreement via hologram on May 28, 2019. The signature is based on the fact that while both parties are in two different places, they can talk to each other in voice and video and sign the papers, while audience are watching in the two halls, whether in the municipality or the civil defense.

This agreement is the first of its kind in the Arab world, using virtual reality technology, in the field of geospatial infrastructure in order to promote, develop and implement the geospatial infrastructure of Dubai. In addition to that, it can be used to exchange information and resources between the two institutions in order to provide a comprehensive and unified baseline, which can be used as an effective planning, design and management tool for the development of projects.

Al Hajeri explained that the agreement aims to exchange information mainly, and that they are currently working on the project of planning the basis of Dubai (Geomakani), also that the civil defense can be very useful throughout the project.​​

Al-Matroushi said that this is considered the first initiative to sign remote agreements, and that Dubai Municipality and Civil Defense will be one of the first departments to sign remote agreements at the global level. He also mentioned that the Civil Defense complements the work of Dubai Municipality, and that they are always cooperating to provide the best services.
