In a continuation plan of spreading the geospatial awareness in the academic community, the GISCD organized a workshop to introduce Makani App in cooperation with educational institutions in the emirate. The GISCD seeks to introduce the smart geographic addressing system "Makani", in which it included an explanation of its importance, usage and most prominent features, in addition to how it is used. Makani team provided a detailed explanation of the application to the Dubai National School of Al -Twar Branch, which witnessed a remarkable interaction by students​
