This is a project executed internally by the GISC. The objective of this project is to develop an intelligent geographic address system that is complementary to the official address system adopted in the Emirate of Dubai. Every one of different ages and nationalities can use Makani, because it relies only on numbers to identify entrances to buildings, entities, farms and even free zones. Currently government and semi-governmental entities in the Emirate of Dubai such as Dubai Police, Civil Defense, Ambulance, RTA, Dubai Courts, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and others have implemented Makani in their procedures and operations. In addition, Makani used by some private entities such as restaurants, institutions, shipping and logistics companies. Since then, Makani has been formally adopted and implemented in the Emirates of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. It is expected to be used at national level in the near future.
