Embracing Constructability – Going Beyond BIM!
This year, The Construction Summit Middle East returned on October 23rd, 2019 with a mandate to exploring construction work processes and technology that go Beyond BIM, and more into constructability. Under the umbrella of Dubai Municipality, the GISC unveiled the role of technology in the progression of work practices through this summit. Maitha Alnuaimi, a GIS Specialist, shared a presentation under the title of “planning, designing, building, maintaining and operating smarter cities using geospatial technology". This presentation showcased the role of modern technology in the Emirate of Dubai in updating the Dubai basemap. Drone technology, Lidar technology and GISC plan of updating the maps were as well introduced. The municipality also participated in the discussion session by highlighting the uses of geospatial technologies, and the role of geospatial data in transforming Dubai into a smart city.
