Launching of the Smart Training Center

Dubai Municipality launches a virtual training center, which is the first of its kind in the region, under the supervision of the GIS Center

Dubai Municipality, under the supervision of the GIS Center, launched the first smart training center in the region on Wednesday, 19 December 20​18, which provides an integrated training environment in the field of urban planning and engineering.

In center, the trainees will learn new methods of supervising and monitoring the buildings, the techniques and mechanisms used in planning and engineering inspection, and the procedures of performing land-surveying tasks in a virtual environment without the need of going to the field.

Engineer Maryam Al Muhairi, Director of GIS Center, briefed the Director General of Dubai Municipality Dawood Al Hajri about training equipment and programs at the Center, which is distinctive in using the latest technology in the field of training in the application of the virtual environment.

Al Muhairi also added that the center includes some specialties such as urban planning, land survey and supervision of building construction. It is expected that other specialties will be added in the future to include the rest of the Dubai Municipality's functions and will be available to other departments and institutions to take advantage of each according to its specializations and fields of work.

Al-Hajri expressed his feeling of pride of what he saw from the implementation of modern and intelligent techniques in training, qualifying and raising the levels of trainees' skills in urban planning. He stressed that Dubai Municipality is keen to offer the best services to clients and employees emphasizing on the aspects of sustainability, happiness, health and safety, which comprises its vision. This reinforces the role of the Municipality and GIS Center in providing outstanding services in the areas of maps and geospatial systems, and in building national and local capacities in this important area, he added.​
